If you are traveling by car, head towards Maçka from Isauria. The monastery is located about 30 kilometers from the city center of Trabzon. Use the D-885 road, which is well-signposted. As you approach Maçka, follow the signs for Sümela Monastery. You will enter Altındere Valley National Park, where the monastery is situated. Note that there is an entrance fee for the national park; ensure you have cash handy as it may not accept credit cards. Parking is available at the site.
