Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from Ashgabat, the capital city of Turkmenistan. Head southeast on the Ahal Region road. Continue driving until you reach the Köpetdag Mountains area. Once you are in the vicinity of the mountains, follow road signs towards the mountain trails. Depending on the route, it may take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the base of Gora Kuurtly-Kry. Please note that the roads can be rough, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended.

• Public Transportation - Bus

  From Ashgabat, take a bus that heads towards the Köpetdag Mountains. Buses leave regularly from the main bus station. Make sure to ask the driver or conductor to drop you off at the closest point to Gora Kuurtly-Kry. The bus ride may take about 2 to 3 hours. Once you arrive, you may have to hike or use a taxi to reach closer to the mountain peak.

• Taxi or Ride-Sharing

  Once you have reached the foot of the Köpetdag Mountains via bus or car, you can hire a local taxi to take you closer to Gora Kuurtly-Kry. It is advisable to negotiate the fare in advance. The cost can vary, but expect to pay between 20 to 50 Turkmenistani Manat depending on how far into the mountains you wish to go.

• Hiking

  From the nearest drop-off point (either from the bus or taxi), you will need to hike to reach the peak of Gora Kuurtly-Kry. The hike can be challenging, so ensure you have proper hiking gear, water, and food. It usually takes about 1 to 2 hours of hiking to reach the peak, depending on your fitness level and the specific trail conditions.
