If you are driving from any location within Acholi, start by heading towards Gulu-Kampala Road. Follow this main road southbound until you reach the junction with the Kampala Northern Bypass. Continue on the bypass until you reach the exit for Speke Road. Take the exit and follow Speke Road for approximately 1.5 km. You will see the Independence Monument on your left side at the coordinates 0.3155° N, 32.5817° E. Parking is available nearby, but you may need to pay a small fee depending on the location.
Public Transportation
To reach Independence Monument using public transportation, locate a taxi or bus heading towards Kampala from your location in Acholi. Ask the driver to drop you off at the Speke Road junction. From there, you can take a motorcycle taxi (boda boda) for a short ride to the monument, which is about 1 km away. Expect to pay around 1,000 to 2,000 UGX for the boda boda ride. Alternatively, you can walk along Speke Road for about 10-15 minutes to reach the monument.
