Car
If you are driving from Mbale, take the Mbale to Budaka road (A109). Continue on this road until you reach the junction with the road leading to Wanale. Turn left at the junction and follow the signs towards Wanale. The drive should take approximately 30 minutes, depending on traffic. There may be a small fee for parking at the base of the mountain.
Public Transportation
To reach Wanale via public transportation, board a matatu (shared taxi) from Mbale to Budaka. After around 20 minutes, ask the driver to drop you off at the junction leading to Wanale. From there, you can either walk or hire a local boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) to take you to the base of the mountain. The boda-boda ride may cost around 5,000 to 10,000 UGX. The total travel time may vary but allow at least an hour.
Walking/Boda-Boda
If you opt to walk from the junction, it will take approximately 30 minutes to reach the base of Wanale. The path is well-trodden but be prepared for some steep inclines. If you prefer, you can hire a boda-boda for a quicker journey. The fare should not exceed 10,000 UGX.
