Getting There

    From Mbale town, head northwest on the A109 road towards the town of Kapchorwa. Continue on this road for about 38 km. After passing through Kapchorwa, take the road to the left towards the Endebess area. Drive for approximately 30 km until you reach the vicinity of Kitum Caves. The caves are located in the Mount Elgon National Park. Look for signs indicating the park entrance. Entering the park requires a small fee, typically around UGX 20,000 per person, which can vary, so check current prices.

    From Mbale, take a shared taxi (matatu) heading to Kapchorwa. The ride will take about 1-1.5 hours and costs around UGX 3,000-5,000. Once in Kapchorwa, you can hire a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) to take you to the entrance of Mount Elgon National Park. The boda-boda ride costs approximately UGX 10,000-15,000.
