Getting there

Car

If you are driving from Mbale town, take the Mbale-Bungokho road. Continue straight for about 8 km. As you approach Bungokho, you will see a sign for Wanale Ridge on your left. Turn left onto the dirt road and follow it for about 3 km until you reach the parking area near the trailhead. Be aware that the road may be bumpy, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended.

Public Transportation

To reach Wanale Ridge via public transportation, take a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) from Mbale town to Bungokho. The fare is typically around 5,000 UGX. Once you arrive in Bungokho, ask the driver to take you to the Wanale Ridge trailhead. The boda-boda ride will take about 15-20 minutes. Ensure you negotiate the price before starting your journey.

Hiking

After reaching the parking area or the trailhead, begin your hike towards Wanale Ridge. The trail is well-marked, and you can expect a moderate hike that takes approximately 2-3 hours to reach the viewpoints. Bring sufficient water, snacks, and a camera to capture the stunning views along the way.
