Walking
From the center of Fort Portal, start at the main roundabout (known as the Fort Portal Roundabout). Head south towards the Kabarole District Headquarters along the main road (Mityana - Fort Portal Road). Continue walking straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the junction where the road splits. Here, you will see a sign for Lugard Monument pointing left. Turn left onto the road (Kijura Road) and continue straight for about 500 meters. You will pass by several local shops and a school on your left. As you approach the Lugard Monument, you will see it situated on a small hilltop, surrounded by trees. The monument is easily recognizable, and you can also ask locals for directions if needed.

If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Fort Portal. Start at the main roundabout and head south on the Mityana - Fort Portal Road. Cycle straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the junction with Kijura Road. Turn left onto Kijura Road and continue cycling for about 500 meters. To reach Lugard Monument using a boda boda (motorcycle taxi), find a boda boda stand near the center of Fort Portal, especially around the main roundabout. After about 5 minutes, they will turn left onto Kijura Road. The monument is located on a small hilltop, and the driver will drop you off right at the entrance.
