Bicycle
Start from Jinja town center. Head towards the main road (Jinja-Kampala Road). Continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the roundabout. Take the first exit at the roundabout onto the Jinja-Bugiri Road. Cycle along this road for approximately 8 kilometers. You will see signs directing you to Mabira Central Forest Reserve. Once you see the entrance, park your bicycle and enjoy the nature reserve.
Walking
From the Jinja main bus park, walk towards Jinja-Kampala Road. This is the main road that leads out of the town. Walk along this road for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach a roundabout. At the roundabout, take the exit onto the Jinja-Bugiri Road. Continue walking for about 8 kilometers. Look out for signs pointing towards Mabira Central Forest Reserve. Once you reach the entrance, you can explore the forest reserve.
Boda-Boda (Motorcycle Taxi)
From your location in Jinja, find a nearby boda-boda stand or ask locals to help you find one. Tell the driver you want to go to Mabira Central Forest Reserve. The driver will take you along Jinja-Kampala Road for about 1.5 kilometers, then continue on Jinja-Bugiri Road for approximately 8 kilometers. Once you arrive at the entrance of the reserve, pay the fare and enjoy your visit!
Public Transport (Matatu)
Head to the matatu stage in Jinja town, where you can find vehicles heading towards Bugiri. Board a matatu, and inform the conductor that you want to stop at Mabira Central Forest Reserve. The matatu will take you along Jinja-Kampala Road and drop you off near the entrance of the reserve. From there, it is a short walk to the entrance gate.
