Getting There

Bicycle
Start at the Jinja Clock Tower. Head southeast on Main Street towards Jinja Bridge, then follow the road out of Jinja towards Kamuli. Continue along the main road for about 10 km. At the junction, take the left turn towards Bugoma. Follow the signs for Mabira Central Forest Reserve. The entrance to the forest will be on your right after approximately 2 km.

Public Transport (Matatu)
From Jinja, go to the Jinja Bus Station (also known as the Taxi Park) and board a matatu heading to Kampala. Inform the conductor that you wish to stop at the Mabira Forest turn-off. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you reach the turn-off, you can either walk or hire a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) to take you to the forest entrance, which is about 3 km away.

Walking
If you prefer to walk, begin at the Jinja Clock Tower and head southwest along Main Street. Continue until you reach the Jinja Bridge, then follow the road out of town. It is a long walk, approximately 12 km, so it may take a few hours. Be mindful of traffic and ensure you have plenty of water and sun protection. Once you reach the Bugoma junction, the entrance to Mabira Central Forest Reserve will be approximately 2 km ahead on your right.
