Getting there

Car

If you are driving from Kabale town, take the Kabale-Mbarara road (A104) heading east. After about 25 kilometers, look for the sign for Mpambire, and turn left onto a smaller road. Follow this road for approximately 10 kilometers until you reach the entrance of Mpanga Forest. Be aware that some sections of the road may be unpaved, so a vehicle with good clearance is recommended.

Public Transportation

To reach Mpanga Forest using public transport, start by taking a matatu (shared taxi) from Kabale to Mpambire. Matatus frequently depart from the Kabale taxi park. The journey should take about 30 minutes and cost around 3,000 UGX. Once you arrive in Mpambire, walk for about 1 kilometer to reach the entrance of Mpanga Forest. Make sure to ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest point to the forest entrance.

Bicycle

For the adventurous, renting a bicycle in Kabale is a great way to reach Mpanga Forest. Follow the same route as if you were driving along the Kabale-Mbarara road (A104) for about 25 kilometers. Then, turn left onto the smaller road towards Mpambire. The total ride will take approximately 2-3 hours depending on your pace and the road conditions. Ensure you have enough water and snacks for the journey.

Walking

If you are already in Mpambire village, you can walk to Mpanga Forest. The forest is about 1-2 kilometers from the village center. Follow the main road leading out of the village, and you will see signs directing you to the forest entrance. This is a pleasant walk, allowing you to enjoy the local scenery.
