If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Lira town. Head southeast on the A2 road towards Kwania District. Continue on the A2 for approximately 30 kilometers. After passing Kwania, look for the signs directing you to the Eclipse Monument, which is located at the coordinates FPFQ+JR7. The monument is situated near the main road, making it easily visible. There is no parking fee; you can park your vehicle along the roadside.
Public Transport
For those using public transport, begin at the Lira taxi park. Look for a taxi heading to Kwania District. The fare should be around 3,000 UGX. Ask the driver to drop you off near Kwania or at the nearest point to the Eclipse Monument. Once you get off, you may need to walk approximately 1.5 kilometers to reach the monument. Follow the direction indicated by locals, as it’s a well-known landmark in the area.
Bicycle or Walking
If you prefer to ride a bicycle or walk, you can start from central Lira. The distance to the Eclipse Monument is about 30 kilometers. For cyclists, take the A2 road towards Kwania, which is relatively flat and manageable. If walking, be prepared for a long trek, and consider starting early in the morning to avoid the heat. Bring water and wear comfortable shoes. The journey could take several hours on foot.
