Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Mbale, head towards the Mbale Bus Park. Once you reach the park, look for the main road heading northeast, which is called Jinja Road. Follow Jinja Road for approximately 1.5 kilometers. You will pass several local shops and restaurants along the way. Keep an eye out for the signs indicating the direction to Cwmbale Wildlife Education Centre as you get closer. When you reach the junction with the sign for the wildlife center, turn left onto a smaller road. Continue straight along this road for about 500 meters, and you will see the entrance to Cwmbale Wildlife Education Centre on your right.

  • Bicycle

    If you are renting a bicycle in Mbale, start from the town center and head towards the Mbale Bus Park. Follow the same route as for walking: take Jinja Road heading northeast for about 1.5 kilometers. Riding a bicycle will allow you to move faster, but be cautious of the traffic. After passing the local shops, look for the left turn at the junction marked for Cwmbale Wildlife Education Centre. Turn left and ride straight for another 500 meters until you see the entrance on your right.

  • Boda Boda (Motorcycle Taxi)

    To reach Cwmbale Wildlife Education Centre using a boda boda, simply tell the driver that you want to go to Cwmbale Wildlife Education Centre. Most drivers will be familiar with it. The driver will take you via Jinja Road, which is the most direct route. Expect to pay a small fare, and make sure to negotiate the price beforehand. The ride should take about 10 minutes, depending on traffic. The driver will drop you off right in front of the entrance to the wildlife center.
