    If you are driving from Toro, start by heading towards Fort Portal on the Rwenzori Road (A109). After approximately 25 kilometers, you will reach Fort Portal. From Fort Portal, continue on the A109 for about 60 kilometers until you reach the town of Kamwenge. In Kamwenge, take the road towards Nyinambuga and proceed for about 20 kilometers. Then, follow the signs for Nyungwe Forest National Park. The park entrance is located near the town of Kitabi, which is well-marked. Be aware that some roads may be in poor condition, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended, especially during the rainy season.

  • Public Transportation

    To travel by public transport, start by taking a taxi or boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) from your location in Toro to the main taxi park in Fort Portal. From the Fort Portal taxi park, board a taxi heading to Kamwenge. The fare should be around 10,000 UGX. Once you arrive in Kamwenge, you may need to take a boda-boda to the entrance of Nyungwe Forest National Park, which could cost an additional 15,000-20,000 UGX. It’s advisable to confirm the fare before starting the journey. The total travel time may take around 3 to 4 hours, depending on waiting times and road conditions.

    If you are in the Toro region and prefer a combination of transport, you can hire a car to take you to Fort Portal. From there, take a public taxi to Kamwenge as mentioned above. After reaching Kamwenge, hire a boda-boda to take you to the park entrance.
