Car
If you're driving, start from Arua town, the largest urban center in West Nile. Take the Goli Road (Arua - Goli - Pakwach Road) heading southeast. Follow this road for about 70 kilometers until you reach the town of Pakwach. In Pakwach, look for signs directing you to the Pakwach Bridge. Cross the bridge over the Nile River. Once you cross the bridge, continue straight for about 10 kilometers until you reach the town of Nakasongola. Here, you will need to ask locals for boat services to Bukasa Island, as there are no direct road connections. The boat ride will take approximately 30 minutes and costs around 10,000 to 20,000 UGX per person depending on the boat type and negotiation.
Public Transportation
From any location in West Nile, take a taxi or bus to Arua town. Once in Arua, look for buses or shared taxis heading to Pakwach. The fare typically ranges from 10,000 to 20,000 UGX per person. Upon reaching Pakwach, you will need to find a local boat service to take you to Bukasa Island. The boat ride costs about 10,000 to 20,000 UGX per person and lasts around 30 minutes. It's advisable to ask locals for the most reliable boat operators as schedules may vary.
