    Getting There

    Car

If you're traveling by car within West Nile, start by heading towards the town of Arua. From Arua, take the A1 highway heading southeast. After approximately 70 km, keep an eye out for signs directing you to Lake Kyoga. You will turn off the highway onto a smaller road that leads directly to the lake. Ensure to have a GPS or a map, as the final stretch might not be well-marked. The journey should take around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on road conditions.

    Public Transportation (Matatu)

For those opting for public transport, head to the main taxi park in Arua. Look for a matatu (shared taxi) heading towards Jinja or Soroti. Inform the driver to drop you off at the turn-off to Lake Kyoga, which is roughly 70 km from Arua. This leg of the trip should cost approximately 5,000-10,000 UGX. Once you arrive at the turn-off, you may need to hire a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) for the final 10 km to the lakeshore, which will cost around 3,000-5,000 UGX.

    Boda-Boda

If you're already near the turn-off to Lake Kyoga, you can hire a boda-boda from nearby towns or villages. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand, which should be around 3,000-5,000 UGX for the short ride to the lake. Always wear a helmet and ensure the driver is experienced.

    Local Guide Services

For a more organized experience, consider hiring a local guide who can provide transport and take you directly to Lake Kyoga. Many guides operate in Arua and can arrange a vehicle for you, which might cost upwards of 100,000 UGX for a day trip, depending on your group size and the inclusions.
