Car
If you are driving, start from Fort Portal city. Take the Rukiga Road (also known as the Fort Portal-Bundibugyo Road) heading towards Bundibugyo. After approximately 30 kilometers, you will reach a junction at Kyenjojo. Turn left onto the main road towards Kyenjojo town. Continue on this road for about 15 kilometers until you reach Isunga. From Isunga, follow the signs to Crater Lake View Point. The last stretch will be on an unnamed road (F7PQ+VR3). Make sure to check your GPS for the exact coordinates: 0.4871389, 30.2895527. The entire journey should take around 1 hour, depending on traffic and road conditions.
Public Transportation
To reach Crater Lake View Point using public transport, first, take a taxi or bus from Fort Portal to Kyenjojo. The taxis leave regularly from the taxi park in Fort Portal and the fare is about UGX 10,000-15,000. After reaching Kyenjojo, you will need to find a local boda boda (motorcycle taxi) to take you to Isunga. The boda boda ride should cost around UGX 5,000-10,000. Once you arrive in Isunga, ask for directions to the Crater Lake View Point, which is approximately 5 kilometers away from the main road. You may need to negotiate a fare with a local boda boda to take you the final stretch.
Walking
If you are already in Isunga and prefer to walk, you can follow the unnamed road (F7PQ+VR3) leading to the Crater Lake View Point. It is approximately 5 kilometers from the center of Isunga. The walk will take around 1 hour, and it's advisable to wear comfortable shoes and carry enough water. Enjoy the scenic views as you make your way to the viewpoint.
