The building sits on one of Cambridge’s narrowest and oldest streets, between the Saxon tower of St Bene’t’s Church and the market area. Its name derives from the earlier Bath Hotel designation recorded by 1881, though the exact origin remains undocumented. Archaeological work in the 1990s confirmed the frame details.

Inside, the ground floor opens as a single trading room with exposed timbers, open brickwork and modern seating installed during the 2021 refurbishment.
