Car
If you're driving from the center of Down, head north on the A25 towards the M1 motorway. Merge onto the M1 and follow the signs for Belfast. After about 15 miles, take the exit for the A1 towards Dublin. Continue on the A1 for approximately 45 miles, then take the exit towards the A720 (City of Edinburgh Bypass). Follow the A720 until you reach the A702 exit for Edinburgh. Continue on the A702, which becomes Morningside Road. Follow the signs for Blackford Hill. The parking is available nearby, but be mindful of any parking charges that may apply.

To reach Blackford Hill via public transport, start at the Down train station and take a train towards Edinburgh Waverley. After about 1 hour, arrive at Edinburgh Waverley station. From there, take Lothian Bus number 11 or 15 from Waverley Bridge towards Morningside. Get off at the 'Morningside, Holy Corner' stop. From there, walk up Morningside Road until you reach the entrance to Blackford Hill. The total cost for the train (approximately £15-£20) and bus (£1.80-£2.50) will vary depending on the time of booking and travel.
