Walking
If you are starting from the city center of Durham, head towards the main train station, which is located on North Road. From the station, walk north towards the Market Place. Once at the Market Place, continue walking north along the A690. Follow the signs towards Newcastle upon Tyne and cross the River Wear using the Framwellgate Bridge. After crossing, continue straight, and you will reach the A1(M) motorway. Head towards Gateshead/ Newcastle, and follow the signs to the city center. Once in the city center, look for Clayton Street West, where St. Mary's Cathedral is located. It is situated just a short walk from the Eldon Square shopping center.

Bus
You can take the Go North East bus service from Durham to Newcastle upon Tyne. Catch bus number 21 or 57 from Durham Bus Station. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Haymarket Bus Station in Newcastle, exit the station and walk towards Northumberland Road. From there, turn left onto Clayton Street West, and St. Mary's Cathedral will be on your right after a short walk.

To travel by train from Durham to Newcastle upon Tyne, head to the Durham Train Station located on North Road. Purchase a ticket to Newcastle.
