Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from Durham city centre, head south on Elvet Bridge towards the A167. Cross the river and continue on the A167 (North Road) until you reach the roundabout. Take the second exit onto the B1308 (South Road). Continue straight for about 0.5 miles. The Botanic Garden will be on your right-hand side, just past the entrance to the University of Durham. Look for the sign indicating the entrance.

From Durham bus station, take the number 6 or 6A bus towards the University. The bus will take you along the A167 (North Road). Get off at the stop near the Botanic Garden, which is 'South Road.' The garden is a short walk from the bus stop. Head down South Road, and the entrance to the Botanic Garden will be on your right.

Bike
If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in the city. Start from the city centre and head south towards the A167. Follow the same route as for walking, but be sure to stay in the bike lane where available. The Botanic Garden is easily accessible by bike, and there are places to lock your bike at the entrance.
