Getting There

• Walking

  Start at Inverness city center, specifically at the Inverness Castle. From the castle, walk down Castle Street towards the River Ness. Cross the river using the pedestrian bridge (Greig Street Bridge). Once you cross the bridge, continue straight until you reach the roundabout. Take the first exit onto the A82 (Telford Street). Continue walking along Telford Street until you reach the junction with the B865 (Crown Drive). Turn right onto Crown Drive. Continue straight for about 700 meters, then turn left onto Craigton Avenue. Continue walking until you reach 40 Craigton Ave, where the entrance to Merkinch Local Nature Reserve is located.

• Public Transport (Bus)

  From Inverness city center, head to the nearest bus stop (e.g., near the bus station). Look for bus routes that service the area towards Merkinch. You can take the number 1 bus towards Merkinch. Get off at the stop closest to Craigton Avenue. From there, walk along Craigton Avenue until you reach 40 Craigton Ave, where the Merkinch Local Nature Reserve entrance is located.

• Cycling

  If you have access to a bike, start from Inverness city center and head towards the River Ness. Follow the cycle path along the river until you reach the Greig Street Bridge. Cross the bridge and continue straight along the cycle path. As you reach the roundabout, take the first exit onto Telford Street. Follow the road until you reach Crown Drive, then turn right. Continue straight for about 700 meters and turn left onto Craigton Avenue. Cycle until you reach 40 Craigton Ave, where the Merkinch Local Nature Reserve entrance is located.
