Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from Portree, the largest town on the Isle of Skye. Head west on the A87 road towards Kyle of Lochalsh for about 12 miles. As you approach the junction, take the A850 towards Dunvegan. Continue on this road for approximately 14 miles until you reach the village of Dunvegan. From Dunvegan, take the B884 road, which leads directly to Neist Point. Follow the B884 for about 5 miles until you see the signs for Neist Point Lighthouse. There is a small parking area close to the lighthouse, but be aware that it can fill up quickly during peak tourist season.

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transportation, take a bus from Portree to Dunvegan. Several local bus services operate this route, and the journey takes about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Dunvegan, you will need to arrange for a taxi to take you to Neist Point Lighthouse, as there is no direct public transport to the lighthouse itself. The taxi ride will take approximately 15 minutes and expect to pay around £15-£20 for the trip. Make sure to check the bus schedules in advance as they may vary, especially on weekends.

• Walking

  For the adventurous, if you're already near Dunvegan, you can hike from the village to Neist Point Lighthouse. The walk is about 3 miles one way and follows scenic paths along the coastline. Start from the center of Dunvegan and follow the signs towards Neist Point. The trail can be steep and uneven in places, so wear appropriate footwear and bring water. This is a great way to enjoy the natural beauty of the Isle of Skye, but allow enough time for the round trip.
