Travel Guide to Monument to the Great Fire of London

Getting There

• Tube

  If you are near a Tube station, take the Jubilee Line (silver line) towards Stratford. If you're starting from Waterloo Station, board the Jubilee Line and travel for four stops to London Bridge Station. Once you arrive at London Bridge, follow the signs to the exit. After exiting the station, head towards the south side of the river. Walk along Tooley Street and cross the bridge to reach Borough High Street.

• Bus

  From various locations in London, you can catch a bus heading towards London Bridge or Monument. Look for buses with numbers 381, 47, or 43. Once on the bus, stay alert for your stop. Get off at 'Monument Station' bus stop. Once you disembark, walk towards Fish Street Hill, and you will find the Monument to the Great Fire of London just a short walk ahead.

• Walking

  If you are already in the City of London, the Monument to the Great Fire of London is a short walk from several landmarks. From St. Paul's Cathedral, head southeast on St. Paul's Churchyard towards New Change. Continue walking until you reach Cheapside, then turn left. Follow Cheapside until you hit King Street, turn right, and then left onto Fish Street Hill. The Monument will be visible as you approach.

• Cycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a Santander Cycle from one of the nearby docking stations. Start by cycling towards the River Thames. Make your way to London Bridge and cross over. Head towards Monument via Borough High Street, then turn onto Fish Street Hill. The Monument will be directly in front of you.

• Tram

  If you are near Croydon or Wimbledon, you can take a tram towards East Croydon or Wimbledon Station. From there, transfer to the National Rail services to London Bridge. After arriving at London Bridge, follow the same instructions as the Tube guidance to reach the Monument.
