The Haining Estate traces its origins back to the 15th century, with the present Palladian mansion constructed in the 1790s by the Pringle family, who owned the property from 1701 onward. Over time, the house was extensively remodelled around 1819, embodying the elegance and grandeur typical of Georgian architecture. The estate remained a private family residence until 2009, when Andrew Nimmo Smith bequeathed the house and grounds to The Haining Charitable Trust, ensuring its preservation and public accessibility.

The mansion is the estate’s centerpiece, showcasing classic Palladian design with symmetrical facades, full-length windows, and spacious interiors flooded with natural light. The house overlooks the serene Haining Loch, framed by wooded grounds and gardens. Complementing the main house are the beautifully restored stables and traditional cottages, which have been sensitively renovated to serve as artists’ studios, holiday apartments, and community spaces. Classical statues and busts, including Antonio Canova-inspired works from the 1820s, adorn the grounds, enhancing the estate’s historic ambiance.

Surrounding the mansion are 160 acres of parkland featuring well-maintained walking paths that wind through ancient woodlands and around the peaceful loch. The recently added custom-built marquee, equipped with heating and air conditioning, accommodates up to 200 guests and features spectacular views across the loch and surrounding hills.
