Haresfield Beacon & Standish Wood: A Scenic Retreat in the Cotswolds

Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, the address for your GPS is Cotswold Way, Stonehouse GL10 3ES. From the M5 motorway, exit at Junction 13 and follow the A40 towards Gloucester. Merge onto the A419 towards Stroud, and then take the exit for the A46 towards Stonehouse. Continue on the A46 until you reach a roundabout. Take the second exit onto the B4008 and follow signs for Haresfield Beacon. There is a small car park available at the entrance to Standish Wood. Parking may incur a small fee, so be sure to have some change handy.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Haresfield Beacon & Standish Wood via public transport, first take a train to Stonehouse Railway Station. Trains run regularly from major cities like London and Birmingham. Once you arrive at Stonehouse, exit the station and head towards the bus stop located just outside. Take bus number 93 towards Stroud, which will take you to the nearest stop on the A46. From there, it is about a 20-minute walk to Haresfield Beacon. Follow the signs that direct you to the Cotswold Way, which will lead you directly to the Beacon and the woods.

  If you are already in the vicinity of Haresfield, you can reach Haresfield Beacon by walking. From the village of Haresfield, follow the footpath signs leading to the Cotswold Way. The walk is approximately 30 minutes and offers beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Ensure to wear proper walking shoes, as the terrain can be uneven.
