Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving to Whitby Swing Bridge, start from the A171 road leading into Whitby. As you approach the town, follow signs for the town center. Once in Whitby, look for signs directing you to the harbour area. You can park your car at the nearest car parks such as the West Cliff car park or the Endeavour Wharf car park. Please note that parking fees apply, generally around £1.50 per hour. From the car park, walk towards Bridge Street. You will see the bridge just a short walk away, across the river.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Whitby Swing Bridge via public transportation, take a train to Whitby railway station. From major cities like York or Middlesbrough, you can catch a direct train to Whitby. Upon arriving at Whitby station, exit the station and walk straight along the path leading to the town center. Follow the signs for the harbour. This walk will take approximately 15-20 minutes. As you approach the harbour area, you will see the Swing Bridge ahead. The walk is flat and easy, making it accessible for all tourists.

• Local Bus

  If you're within the surrounding areas, you can take a local bus to Whitby. Buses regularly run from nearby towns such as Scarborough or Robin Hood's Bay. Alight at the bus station in Whitby. From the bus station, it's a 10-minute walk to Whitby Swing Bridge. Head towards the town center, cross over the main street, and continue to follow the signs to the harbour. The bridge will be easily visible as you approach the waterfront.
