Walmgate: A Timeless Journey Through York

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from York Minster, head east on Minster Yard toward Duncombe Place. Continue onto Duncombe Place until you reach the junction with St. Leonard's Place, then turn left. Follow St. Leonard's Place until it merges with Museum Street, and continue straight. When you reach the traffic lights, cross over to the other side of the road to continue on Museum Street. After a short walk, you will see Walmgate on your left. It's a notable street that will lead you into the heart of York's historic area.

• Bus

  If you are near the York Railway Station, you can catch a bus to Walmgate. Look for bus stops located just outside the station where you can find buses heading towards the city center. Take any bus that has a route stopping at the 'Walmgate' bus stop. The journey will be short, approximately 5-10 minutes. Once you disembark at Walmgate, you will be right in the area. Simply walk down the street to explore.

• Cycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the local bike rental services near the city center. From the city center, head south towards the River Ouse and follow the riverside path. Continue along the river until you reach the junction where you can turn onto Walmgate. The ride should take you about 10-15 minutes depending on your pace. Once on Walmgate, enjoy the historic buildings and atmosphere.
