If you are driving from the Northern Region, head south on Route 5 towards Montevideo. Follow the signs for Montevideo, and drive for approximately 4 hours. As you approach the city, take the exit for Av. José Batlle y Ordóñez, and continue on this road. The Montevideo sign is located at the intersection of Av. José Batlle y Ordóñez and Calle José E. Rodó. There is no toll on this route, and parking is available nearby.
Bus
You can take a bus from any major town in the Northern Region to Montevideo. Companies like COT and COPSA offer frequent services. Once you arrive at the Tres Cruces Terminal in Montevideo, take local bus number 44 towards 'Pocitos'. Disembark at the stop 'Av. José Batlle y Ordóñez'. The Montevideo sign is a short walk from there, located at the intersection with Calle José E. Rodó. Bus fare is approximately 200 UYU.
