Getting There

• Public Bus

  From the center of Punta del Este, head to the main bus terminal located at Calle 24 and Avenida Gorlero. Look for the bus that goes to La Barra, which is typically marked on the front. Once on the bus, enjoy the scenic ride along the coast. The journey takes about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. Get off at the stop closest to Romildo Risso street. From there, walk a short distance (about 5-10 minutes) towards the museum, following the signs or asking locals for directions.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer a more active option, you can rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Punta del Este. Head east on Avenida Gorlero towards Playa Brava. Continue along the coast until you reach the La Barra area. The total distance is approximately 7 kilometers (about 4 miles) and will take roughly 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in La Barra, look for Romildo Risso street. The Museo del Mar will be located along this street.

• Walking

  If you're near the Punta del Este Lighthouse, you can walk to Museo del Mar. Head east along the coastline on Avenida del Mar, enjoying the beautiful beach views. Continue walking for about 2 kilometers until you reach the La Barra area. Once you get to the intersection with Romildo Risso street, turn left, and you will see the museum ahead. The walk will take approximately 30 minutes.

• Taxi or Rideshare

  For a more convenient option, you can take a taxi or use a rideshare app. Simply request a ride to 'Museo del Mar, Romildo Risso, La Barra.' The driver will know the location. The ride should take around 15 minutes from the center of Punta del Este, depending on traffic conditions. Make sure to specify the name of the museum to avoid any confusion.
