    Getting There

    Car

    If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Book Cliffs. Head southeast on Main Street and take the exit toward I-15 S. Merge onto I-15 S and continue for approximately 25 miles. Take exit 8 for UT-9 E toward Hurricane/Zion National Park. Follow UT-9 E for about 15 miles until you reach the town of Washington, UT. From there, head south on 300 E, which will turn into 500 S. Keep driving until you hit the end of the road, then take a right onto the gravel road leading towards the Book Cliffs area. Be aware that some parts of this road may require a high-clearance vehicle. After about 3 miles, park your vehicle where the road ends and prepare to hike approximately 1 mile to reach Elephant Arch.

    Public Transportation + Hiking

    If you are using public transportation, first check for a bus service that may take you to St. George, UT, which is the nearest city with more transportation options. From St. George, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service to Washington, UT. Once in Washington, follow the same instructions as for driving by car: take 300 E and then 500 S until you reach the gravel road. You can either hike from there or arrange for a drop-off if you have limited mobility.

    Hiking

    Once you've parked your vehicle or been dropped off, the hike to Elephant Arch is relatively short but may require some scrambling. Follow the well-marked trail from the end of the gravel road. The trail will lead you through a wash and up to the base of the arch. Ensure you wear sturdy hiking boots and carry plenty of water, especially during warmer months.
