If you are driving from Moab, head south on US-191 S for approximately 30 miles. When you reach Monticello, turn left onto US-491 S and continue for about 5 miles. You will then turn right onto UT-46 W. Follow this road for approximately 12 miles until you reach the Dark Canyon Wilderness Trailhead. Ensure your vehicle is equipped for unpaved roads, as the last stretch can be rough.

If you are relying on public transportation, take the local bus service from Moab to Monticello. From Monticello, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare to take you to the trailhead on UT-46 W, as public transport does not directly serve the wilderness area.
