From the Canyonlands National Park entrance, take UT-313 toward Moab, then merge onto US-191 N. After about 32 miles, take a left onto UT-95. Continue on UT-95 for approximately 38 miles until you reach the Sandthrax Campsite, which will be on your right. There is no entrance fee for the Sandthrax Campsite, but ensure you have enough fuel and supplies as services are limited in this area.
Public Transportation

You can book a shuttle from Moab to the Sandthrax Campsite area, but be sure to confirm availability prior to your trip. Upon arrival at the Sandthrax Campsite, you will need to hike approximately 0.5 miles to reach the entrance of Leprechaun Canyon. It is recommended to check with local shuttle providers for costs, which can vary, so budget around $50-$100 for a round trip.
Hiking
Once you reach Sandthrax Campsite, the hike to Leprechaun Canyon is straightforward. Follow any marked trails leading from the campsite towards the canyon. It’s advisable to carry a map or GPS device as cell service is unreliable. The hike is moderately easy and offers stunning views of the slot canyon. Ensure you bring plenty of water, snacks, and sun protection, as temperatures can be high and shade is limited.
