If you are driving from the main areas of Canyonlands National Park, start by heading north on UT-191 N. Continue on UT-191 N for approximately 30 miles until you reach the junction with US-40 E. Take the exit for US-40 E toward Vernal. Continue on US-40 E for about 25 miles. Take the exit for 500 W (Vernal) and turn left onto 500 W. After about 1 mile, turn right onto McConkie Rd. Follow McConkie Rd for approximately 2 miles, and you will arrive at the McConkie Ranch Petroglyphs located at 6228 McConkie Rd, Vernal, UT 84078.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, you can start by taking the Greyhound bus or a local shuttle service from Moab to Vernal. Once in Vernal, you will need to use a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft, or a local taxi service to reach McConkie Ranch Petroglyphs. Make sure to provide the driver with the address: 6228 McConkie Rd, Vernal, UT 84078. The taxi fare may vary, so check with the driver beforehand.
Bicycling
For the more adventurous, if you are in Vernal and wish to bicycle to McConkie Ranch, start in downtown Vernal and head north on 500 W. You will transition onto McConkie Rd. The ride is about 2.5 miles and will take you through scenic rural areas, but be cautious of traffic and road conditions.
Walking
If you are already in the vicinity and prefer to walk, you can walk from Vernal to McConkie Ranch Petroglyphs. It's about a 2.5-mile walk from the center of Vernal. Head northwest on 500 W, then turn right onto McConkie Rd. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and stay hydrated, especially in warmer months.
