Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Moab, Utah. From the center of Moab, head north on US-191 for approximately 10 miles. Look for the signs for Canyonlands National Park and take a right onto UT-313. Continue on UT-313 for about 23 miles until you reach the park entrance. After entering the park, follow the road for another 10 miles until you see the signs for the Shafer Canyon Overlook. Turn left onto the Shafer Trail Road, which is a dirt road. Drive carefully and follow this road for about 3 miles until you reach the Shafer Canyon Overlook Trailhead. Please note that a park entrance fee may apply, which is typically around $30 per vehicle for a 7-day pass.

• Public Transportation

  If you are relying on public transportation, first take a shuttle or bus service from Moab to the Canyonlands National Park entrance. Some local companies offer shuttle services to major attractions in the area.
