If you're already in Canyonlands National Park, head towards the Island in the Sky district. From the Visitor Center, follow the signs to the Island in the Sky Scenic Drive. Drive approximately 10 miles (16 km) along the scenic drive, and keep an eye out for the Shafer Trail Viewpoint sign on the left. The viewpoint has a parking area where you can stop and enjoy the breathtaking views of the canyon below. There are no entrance fees specific to the viewpoint, but note that a park entrance fee is required for Canyonlands, which is $30 per vehicle for a 7-day pass.
