Car
If you are driving, start from the Island in the Sky Visitor Center. Head south on the Grand View Point Road for approximately 7 miles. You will pass several scenic overlooks along the way. Once you reach the end of the road, turn left onto the main road (Highway 191). After about 12 miles, turn right onto Utah Route 313, which leads to Dead Horse Point State Park. Continue for about 7 miles, then keep an eye out for parking areas along the road that provide access to the Petrified Dunes area.
Public Transportation
Public transportation options are limited in Canyonlands, but you can take a shuttle service from Moab. Look for local tour operators that offer shuttles to Canyonlands National Park. Once you arrive at the Island in the Sky Visitor Center, you can either hike or take a guided tour that will include stops at the Petrified Dunes. Hiking
