Car
From Moab, head south on US-191 for about 10 miles. Look for the Canyonlands National Park entrance sign. After entering the park, follow the signs to Island in the Sky. Once you reach the Island in the Sky visitor center, continue on the main road (Island in the Sky Road) for approximately 15 miles. Watch for the Shafer Trail Viewpoint sign on your right. Turn onto the Shafer Trail Road, which leads you to the viewpoint parking area.
Public Transportation
Take a shuttle service from Moab to Canyonlands National Park, specifically heading to the Island in the Sky district. Once you arrive at the visitor center, you will need to arrange for a guided tour or shuttle that includes stops at various viewpoints, including the Shafer Trail Viewpoint. Make sure to check the shuttle schedule in advance, as services may vary seasonally.
Walking (from visitor center)
If you choose to walk from the Island in the Sky visitor center to the Shafer Trail Viewpoint, it is approximately a 1-mile hike.
