Start at the Escalante Visitor Center located at 755 W Main St, Escalante, UT 84726. From the visitor center, head west on Main Street for about 0.3 miles until you reach the junction with UT-12. Continue walking straight onto UT-12, heading south. After walking for approximately 1.5 miles, you will see a sign for the Covered Wagon Bridge on your left. Follow the sign which will lead you onto a trail that descends toward the bridge. The walk may take around 30 minutes, and be cautious as the terrain can be steep in places.
Biking
If you're renting a bike in Escalante, start at the Escalante Bicycle Rental located at 123 W Main St. From the rental shop, head west on Main Street for about 0.3 miles to reach UT-12. Turn left (south) onto UT-12 and bike for approximately 1.5 miles. Look for the Covered Wagon Bridge sign on your left. There’s a bike-friendly trail that leads to the bridge, and the total biking distance is about 2 miles round trip, which should take around 20-30 minutes depending on your pace.
Hiking
For those who enjoy hiking, begin at the Escalante Campground located less than a mile from the center of town. From the campground, take the East side trail that follows the river. This trail leads directly toward the Covered Wagon Bridge. The hike is approximately 1 mile with some elevation changes but offers beautiful views of the surrounding area. Expect to spend about 1 hour hiking to the bridge, and be sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring water.
