Walking
Start at the Moab Visitor Center located at 25 E, Center St, Moab, UT 84532. Head east on Center St toward Main St. Continue walking until you reach Main St, then turn left onto Main St. Walk north for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with US-191. Cross the intersection and continue walking on the sidewalk along US-191 heading north. After about 1.5 miles, you will see a sign for the entrance to Canyonlands National Park. Follow the signs leading into the park. After entering, follow the park road for approximately 12 miles until you see signs for Shafer Canyon Overlook. Follow the signs to the overlook parking area.

Biking
Rent a bike from one of the local bike rental shops in Moab, such as Poison Spider Bicycles or Moab Cyclery. Start your ride from the shop and head toward Main St. Turn left on Main St and continue riding north for about 0.5 miles. At the intersection with US-191, turn left and continue for about 1.5 miles. After crossing the intersection, follow the bike lane on US-191. Keep riding until you reach the entrance to Canyonlands National Park, about 12 miles from Main St. Once inside the park, follow the signs to Shafer Canyon Overlook.
