Car
If you are driving, start from the main parking lot of Solitude Mountain Resort. Exit the parking lot and turn right onto Big Cottonwood Canyon Road (Utah State Route 190). Follow this road for approximately 5 miles until you reach the junction with East Canyon Road. Continue straight onto East Canyon Road, which will eventually lead you to the Great White Icicle trailhead. Look for parking areas near the trailhead, but be aware that parking may require a daily fee or a parking pass.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take the UTA ski bus (Route 972) from Salt Lake City to Solitude Mountain Resort. Once you arrive at the resort, you can either walk to the trailhead for the Great White Icicle, which is about a 15-20 minute walk along the resort's main paths, or check if there are any shuttle services available for guests that can take you closer to the trailhead. Note that bus fares are typically around $5 for a one-way trip.
Walking
If you are already at Solitude Mountain Resort, you can walk to the Great White Icicle trailhead. Start from the main lodge and head towards the ski runs. Follow the signs that indicate the trails leading to the hiking areas. The Great White Icicle is accessible by a moderate hike, so be sure to wear appropriate footwear and carry water. The hike will take roughly 30-45 minutes depending on your pace.
