Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving from Aydarkul Lake, head southeast towards the road leading to the village of Balay-Bakha. Continue on this road for about 30 kilometers. When you reach Balay-Bakha, look for signs indicating 'Qal’a' or follow your GPS coordinates to 40.6508823 latitude and 66.5849036 longitude. The fortress will be on an unnamed road, visible from the main road. Parking may be available near the site.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Qal’a by public transportation, you will need to take a shared taxi or minibus (marshrutka) from Aydarkul Lake to Balay-Bakha. These can typically be found near popular stops or in the main town area. The fare is approximately 5,000 UZS (Uzbek Som) per person. Once you arrive in Balay-Bakha, you can either ask locals for directions to the fortress or hire a local taxi to take you the remaining distance of about 5 kilometers to the fortress. Make sure to confirm the taxi fare beforehand, which should be around 15,000 to 20,000 UZS.
