If you are at the Vatican Grottoes, walk towards the nearest bus stop, which is located on Piazza San Pietro. Take bus line 81 in the direction of 'Piazza Venezia'. After about 5 stops, get off at 'Lungotevere' stop. From there, it's a short 10-minute walk to Castel Sant'Angelo. Head towards the river, cross the Ponte Sant'Angelo bridge, and you will see Castel Sant'Angelo directly ahead.

From the Vatican Grottoes, exit St. Peter's Basilica and walk straight towards the Via della Conciliazione. Continue straight until you reach the Tiber River. Turn left and follow the riverbank for approximately 15 minutes. You will see Castel Sant'Angelo on your right, just across the bridge.
