Walking
From the center of St. Peter's Square, face the grand St. Peter's Basilica. Walk straight towards the main entrance of the Basilica. Once you reach the steps of the Basilica, turn left and exit the square through the archway in front of you. Continue walking straight until you reach the large street called Via della Conciliazione. Cross this street carefully, and you will find yourself in front of the Tiber River. At this point, you can either enjoy a scenic walk along the river or head towards the nearest metro station. If you choose to walk towards the metro, head right along the riverbank until you reach the Ponte Sant'Angelo. Cross the bridge and continue straight until you see the Castel Sant'Angelo. The nearest metro station, Ottaviano, is a short walk from the Basilica, located at the intersection of Via Ottaviano and Via della Conciliazione. Just walk straight down Via Ottaviano until you see the station entrance on your left.
