Start at the center of St. Peter's Square, facing St. Peter's Basilica. Exit the square through the main entrance and walk towards the Via della Conciliazione. Once you reach the end of the square, turn left onto the street and continue walking straight. After approximately 1.2 kilometers (about 15 minutes on foot), you will reach the intersection with Via di San Giovanni in Laterano. Turn right onto Via di San Giovanni in Laterano, and walk for a couple of minutes. The Pontifical Sanctuary of the Holy Stairs will be on your right at P.za di S. Giovanni in Laterano, 14.

From St. Peter's Square, walk to the nearest bus stop located on Via della Conciliazione. Board bus number 64 towards Termini Station. After about 10 minutes, get off at the 'Piazza San Giovanni in Laterano' stop. From there, walk for about 5 minutes along Via di San Giovanni in Laterano, and you will see the Pontifical Sanctuary of the Holy Stairs on your left at P.za di S. Giovanni in Laterano, 14.
