Getting There

    From the Vatican Museums, exit the main entrance and turn left onto Viale Vaticano. Continue walking straight until you reach the large intersection at Piazzale Clodio. Cross the road, and you will see the bus stop for bus number 81. Board the bus in the direction of 'Piazza Venezia'. After about 10 minutes, get off at the 'Piazza del Colosseo' stop, which is directly in front of the Colosseum.

    If you prefer a longer walk, exit the Vatican Museums and head back to Viale Vaticano. Continue straight until you reach the Tiber River. Turn right and walk along the riverbank. Cross the river at the Ponte Sant'Angelo bridge. Continue straight until you reach Via di San Giovanni in Laterano. Turn left and follow this road until you reach the Colosseum. This route will take approximately 30-40 minutes and offers beautiful views along the river.

  • Public Transport (Metro)

    From the Vatican Museums, exit and walk to the Ottaviano Metro Station (about a 10-minute walk). Take Line A (the orange line) towards Anagnina. Change at the Termini station to Line B (the blue line) towards Laurentina. Get off at the Colosseo station. The Colosseum will be a short walk from the metro station.
