Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey in Morristown, VT. Head southwest on VT-100 toward VT-15. Continue on VT-100 for approximately 6 miles until you reach the turnoff for the Smugglers' Notch Resort. Look for signs for Smugglers' Notch and turn onto the road leading into the resort. Follow the signs to the Madonna Peak parking area. This route offers scenic views and the drive itself is a pleasant experience. Parking may incur a fee, so be sure to check if any costs apply upon arrival.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, start by taking the Green Mountain Transit bus from Stowe to Morristown. Once you arrive in Morristown, you will need to use a rideshare service or taxi to get to the Smugglers' Notch Resort, as public transport does not directly reach Madonna Peak. The rideshare or taxi will take you to the resort where you can access the Madonna Peak trailhead. Be sure to check local rideshare availability and costs in advance.
Hiking
Once you have reached the Madonna Peak parking area, prepare for a hiking adventure. The trail to Madonna Peak is well-marked. You can choose the more challenging route via the Madonna Mountain Trail or a more moderate option depending on your hiking skills. Ensure you have proper footwear and sufficient water. The hike can take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours depending on your pace. Always check the weather and trail conditions before heading out.
