Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, head towards Ninh Bình City. From there, take National Route 1A towards the south and follow the signs to Hoa Lư District. After approximately 10 kilometers, take a right turn onto Provincial Road 491, which leads you directly to Tam Cốc-Bích Động. The total drive is around 90 kilometers from Hanoi and should take approximately 2-3 hours depending on traffic. Parking is available at the site for a small fee.

• Public Bus

  To reach Tam Cốc-Bích Động by public transportation, take a bus from Hanoi to Ninh Bình. Several bus companies offer this route, and the journey takes about 2-3 hours. Once you arrive in Ninh Bình, you can catch a local bus or taxi to Tam Cốc, which is about 7 kilometers from the bus station. Local buses to Tam Cốc are frequent, and tickets cost around 20,000 VND. If you prefer a taxi, expect to pay about 100,000-150,000 VND.

• Train

  If you prefer traveling by train, take a train from Hanoi to Ninh Bình. The journey takes approximately 2-2.5 hours. Upon arrival at Ninh Bình train station, you can take a taxi or a local bus to get to Tam Cốc-Bích Động. The distance from the train station to Tam Cốc is around 7 kilometers, and taxi fares will be similar to those from the bus station, approximately 100,000-150,000 VND.

• Motorbike Rental

  For the more adventurous, renting a motorbike in Ninh Bình is a popular option. After arriving by bus or train, you can rent a motorbike for about 150,000-200,000 VND per day. Follow the same route as described for cars; from Ninh Bình, head toward Hoa Lư District and take Provincial Road 491 to Tam Cốc-Bích Động. Enjoy the scenic ride, and make sure to wear a helmet for safety.
