If you're driving from Hanoi, take National Route 32 towards Son Tay, and then continue on National Route 21. Follow signs leading to Northwest Vietnam. Depending on your exact starting location, it could take approximately 5 to 7 hours to reach Ex Camp Vietnam. Make sure to check the GPS for the final approach as you get closer to the location. The final destination is located at Q623+WFR, Pulau Galang, Batam, Kepulauan Riau, Indonesia. Note that you will need to cross the water between Vietnam and Indonesia, requiring a ferry.

From Hanoi, take a bus to Ha Giang, which takes around 6 hours. From Ha Giang, you can catch another bus heading to Cao Bang. Ensure to confirm the schedule as it can vary. From Cao Bang, you will need to hire a taxi or motorbike taxi to reach the ferry terminal where you can cross over to Batam Island in Indonesia to reach Ex Camp Vietnam.
