Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Southeast Vietnam, take National Route 1A towards Hue. Once you reach Hue, switch to National Route 49A towards A Lưới District. Follow the signs to A Lưới and continue along the road for approximately 65 km. You will arrive at the Vietnam-Laos Border located at 398C+MPX, A Lưới, Thừa Thiên Huế. Ensure your vehicle has enough fuel, as there may be limited service stations along the route.

• Bus

  Take a bus from Hue to A Lưới District. Buses run daily from the main bus station in Hue. The trip will take approximately 3-4 hours. Once you arrive in A Lưới, you can take a taxi or motorcycle taxi to the border, which is about 20 km away. Ensure to confirm with the bus operator the schedule, as it may vary. The bus fare is typically around 100,000 to 150,000 VND.

• Motorbike

  For the adventurous, renting a motorbike in Hue is a great option. After renting, take National Route 1A towards A Lưới. Drive carefully as the roads can be winding and steep. The distance is about 65 km, and the journey should take around 2-3 hours. Make sure to wear a helmet and have an international driving permit. Fuel stations can be sparse, so refuel in Hue before starting your journey.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more comfortable option, you can hire a taxi from Hue to A Lưới District. This is the most direct route and you will be driven to the border crossing. The journey takes about 2-3 hours, and the fare can range from 1,200,000 to 1,500,000 VND depending on the taxi company. Confirm the price before starting your journey to avoid any misunderstandings.
