Getting There

• Public Bus

  From the center of Blacksburg, head to the nearest bus stop and take the Smart Way Bus Route 1 towards Roanoke. Ensure you have a valid ticket before boarding. The bus will take you to the Roanoke Transit Station. Once you arrive, you will need to transfer to the Roanoke Valley Metro Bus. Take Route 10 towards Mill Mountain Park. The bus will drop you off at the nearest stop to Mill Mountain Park. From the bus stop, walk approximately 0.5 miles south along Mill Mountain Spur to reach the park entrance.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer to cycle, rent a bike from a local shop in Blacksburg. Start your journey by heading towards the Huckleberry Trail, which runs north-south. Follow the trail to reach the outskirts of Blacksburg and continue towards Roanoke. The ride will take you approximately 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Roanoke, navigate to Mill Mountain Spur, where the park entrance is located. Ensure to follow local bike lanes and traffic regulations while cycling.

• Walking

  For those who enjoy walking, it’s quite a long trek but doable. Start from the center of Blacksburg and head towards the Huckleberry Trail. Follow the trail south until you reach the intersection with Route 460. Continue walking along Route 460 towards Roanoke. The total distance is about 10 miles, which may take around 3-4 hours. Once you reach Roanoke, follow signs to Mill Mountain Park located at 2198 Mill Mountain Spur. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated!
