Getting There

• Car

  From any location in Blue Ridge Highlands, head towards Roanoke, Virginia. Use Route 220 or I-81 South to reach Roanoke. Once in Roanoke, follow the signs for Mill Mountain Park. Take Exit 143 from I-581 and merge onto Walnut Ave SE. Continue straight and turn right onto Mill Mountain Spur. Follow the road until you reach the park entrance at 2198 Mill Mountain Spur. There is no entrance fee for Mill Mountain Park.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer to use public transportation, check the local bus services in Roanoke. The Roanoke Valley Transit (RVT) provides bus services to various parts of the city. You can take a bus that stops near the Mill Mountain Park area. The closest bus stop is at the bottom of Mill Mountain. From there, you can either walk up the trail to the park or take a rideshare service to the park entrance at 2198 Mill Mountain Spur. Be sure to check the RVT schedule for routes and timings.

• Bicycle

  For the more adventurous, consider biking to Mill Mountain Park. From downtown Roanoke, bike along the Greenway which connects to Mill Mountain. The ride will take you through scenic areas and is approximately 2 miles from downtown. Once you reach the base of Mill Mountain, you can follow the road up to the park entrance at 2198 Mill Mountain Spur. Ensure you have a helmet and follow local biking regulations.

• Walking

  If you're staying close to Mill Mountain, it's a nice walk from nearby areas. You can walk up from the city center or the closest neighborhoods, but be prepared for a steep incline as you make your way up to the park entrance at 2198 Mill Mountain Spur. This is a great way to experience the local scenery, but it may take about 30-40 minutes depending on your starting point.
